Hi,
Thanks for the reply, i was short on time..i had to reinstall the oracle and
everything went fine.
but i liked the strace stuff, i will use it next time..

First check whether the oracle user can write on the shmfs. Once this was the
cause :-)

Otherwise you can check with
'strace sqlplus /nolog 2> strace.log'
what file or directory he is unable to write on.
